Product Information

A 17 Year Old Islay single malt finished in a first-fill oloroso cask, bottled without chill filtering, bottled with no colouring, 56.6% ABV.

Cask 68 is from an unnamed Islay distillery on the South East coast of the island. The distillery where this cask hails from is located on the road that travels East out of Port Ellen and is famous for being the only Islay distillery that holds a Royal Warrant granted by the current King Charles III (when he was Prince Charles).

Matured for 15 years in a refill bourbon hogshead and generously finished in a first fill oloroso cask for a further 2 years.

Tasting notes by Martin Smith:

Nose: Subtle, mainly salty seaside, hint of peat with subtle classic sherry notes underneath. After a few minutes in the glass - orange and first aid box is dominant.

Palate: Bang! Here it is. What an contrast! A different whisky. A savory, nutty, spicy hit that quickly mellows and morphs into salty smoked meat.

Finish: Long and ashy with salty smoked BBQ steak continuing to come to the fore that coats the mouth. An actual joy that makes you reach for the bottle again (and again).
